Her family did not give up her struggle for life, from little Atlas
Atlas baby, who was in danger of life because her body did not get enough blood in Konya, survived by expanding the vein in her heart with the operation performed when she was 15 days old.
Ülker and Mehmet Gökdemir, who live in Isparta, were very happy when they learned that they would have twin babies. The couple, who opposed the suggestion of stopping the heart of one of the babies with health problems during the doctor's check-ups, gave birth to their babies, named Kuzey and Atlas, on February 9th.
It was noticed that Atlas, who weighed 1 kilo and 600 grams, had difficulty in breathing and bruised from time to time. The baby, who was taken to the incubator and given respiratory support, was transferred to Konya Baskent University Hospital.
It was determined that the vein pumping blood to the body of little Atlas, who was being treated in the newborn unit, was narrow.
The baby, who would die if not intervened, was operated when he was only 15 days old, and a stent was inserted into his narrow vein. Thanks to the widened vein, Atlas baby's breathing and sufficient blood flow to his body were provided.

Her mother's 'little warrior' fought to live
Ülker Gökdemir (33) said that she was very upset when she learned that one of her babies had health problems during her pregnancy, and that a difficult period began for them that day.
Emphasizing that, according to Atlas' twin, the struggle for life started before they were born and that he never gave up and gave them strength, Gökdemir said:
"Atlas's development was backward compared to her brother. At the 12th week of my pregnancy, the doctor said that we should terminate the pregnancy for Atlas. Then we went to different doctors. At the 22nd week of pregnancy, the same recommendation was made because there was a problem in heartbeat. We always believed in him and opposed this suggestion. "After birth, his heart problems emerged again. Atlas had a tough struggle for life. I call him the 'little warrior', he fought hard to live. I hope we will spend many happy days together. We are very happy that he is holding on to life."
Gökdemir stated that after the operation, not only their babies, but also themselves took a sigh of relief after a long time.
Father Mehmet Gökdemir also expressed that he was looking forward to realizing the beautiful days he dreamed of with his children.
Explaining that they have been waiting for the day when they will be able to hold their babies in their arms, Gökdemir said, "Thanks to our doctors, we look to the future with more hope. We are very happy, we are very excited." said.
"One of the rare operations performed at this age and weight"
Department of Child Health and Diseases of the Hospital, Dr. Instructor Member Mahmut Gökdemir noted that they did not want to waste time when they detected a serious stenosis in their jugular vein in their evaluations.
Stating that they successfully expanded the stenosis by entering the right carotid artery with ultrasound guidance, Gökdemir continued as follows:
"Because of the stenosis, the organs in the lower region of the heart were also struggling. Since the surgical procedure is high risk at this weight, we decided to open it with a stent. In the general procedure, the leg veins are entered, but since the leg veins are very thin in patients with this weight, the problem area was reached by entering the neck artery under ultrasound guidance. The heart was relieved and the blood values of organs such as kidney, stomach and intestines, especially in the abdomen, returned to normal.
Stating that the baby started to be fed the next day after the operation, Gökdemir said, "It is one of the rare operations performed at this age and weight. We want to share our experiences with our colleagues and the public." said.
