For more than five decades, Professor Dr. Mehmet
Haberal has remained one of the most influential scientific figures at major
international conferences dedicated to organ transplantation, surgery, and
medical research.
- 1987: He founded the Middle East Society for Organ Transplantation, which
became one of the leading scientific organizations specializing in organ
transplantation in the Middle East and beyond.
- Between 1990 and 2025: He participated as a keynote speaker, official
lecturer, and scientific session chair at hundreds of international
conferences held across:
- The United States
- Europe
- The Middle East
- Asia
- The Balkans
- 2006–2008: He was elected President of the International Society for Burn
Injuries, becoming one of the world’s most influential figures in burn
treatment and reconstructive surgery.
- 2016: He was elected President of The Transplantation Society for the
2018–2020 term, becoming the first Turkish physician to hold this
prestigious international position.
- 2018: He officially assumed the presidency of The Transplantation Society
during its world congress and led major international initiatives related
to organ donation, medical education, and scientific research.
