Lazhan, an infant only a few months old, was urgently transferred from Iraq to Başkent University Konya Hospital by a fully equipped ambulance after being diagnosed with complex congenital heart defects requiring immediate medical intervention.

The child was suffering from multiple serious conditions, including VentricularSeptal Defect (VSD), Atrial Septal Defect (ASD), and Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA),all of which can be life-threatening if not treated promptly.

Upon arrival, a comprehensive evaluation was conducted by the specialized medical team, leading to a carefully planned treatment approach. The patient underwent a complex open-heart surgery aimed at correcting the structural defects and restoring proper heart function.

Throughout the treatment journey, Dr. Omer Ali Kerkuklu closely monitored the case, maintaining continuous communication with the family and providing reassurance during this critical period.

The surgery was successfully performed, and the infant’s condition stabilized in the postoperative phase. With continuous medical care, Lazhan showed clear signs of recovery, bringing relief and renewed hope to his family.

Today, Lazhan continues his recovery journey with improved health, marking the beginning of a new chapter in his life.

At Başkent Konya Hospital, we believe that timely intervention, combined with medical expertise and compassionate care, can save lives.
