From Kirkuk to Konya: A Family’s Journey Toward an Accurate Diagnosis and Specialized Care
Nine-month-old Abdullah arrived at Konya Başkent Hospital from Kirkuk, Iraq, after experiencing recurrent seizures
that affected his health and development, prompting his family to seek
specialized medical evaluation and care.
Following his arrival, Abdullah underwent
comprehensive examinations and multidisciplinary assessments by the hospital’s
specialized medical team. At Başkent Konya Hospital, he was diagnosed
with West Syndrome, a rare form of infantile epilepsy that requires
early diagnosis and specialized medical management. Based on the findings, an
individualized treatment plan was developed, including appropriate medication
and regular follow-up according to his clinical condition.
To provide comprehensive care, Abdullah was also
evaluated by specialists in pediatric neurology, ophthalmology, dermatology,
and physical therapy. He subsequently began a rehabilitation program
designed to complement his medical treatment and support his ongoing
development.
Throughout the treatment journey, Dr. Omer AliKerkuklu and Ms. Roaa Saad Aldin closely accompanied the family,
coordinating the different stages of care, facilitating communication with the
medical team, and ensuring that the family fully understood the treatment plan
and follow-up process. Their continuous support helped provide reassurance and
confidence throughout the family's stay in Türkiye.
At the conclusion of the treatment period, Abdullah’s
family expressed their appreciation for the comprehensive medical care and
compassionate support they received, highlighting the coordinated
multidisciplinary approach adopted throughout their child's treatment journey.
