Opening a Medical Pathway for West African Patients to Turkey

On April 9, 2026, a delegation from Başkent Hospital participated in the National Economy Day program in Dakar, Senegal. The hospital was represented by Dr. Omer Ali Kerkuklu, Medical Director of the International Patient Department, along with Mr. Ercan Zeki Gedik.

During the event, a meeting was held with Mr. Alioune Badara Dione, Minister of Microfinance and Social and Solidarity Economy of Senegal, focusing on practical steps to facilitate patient access from West Africa to Turkey.

Discussions included organ transplantation and advanced medical treatments, as well as coordination mechanisms to simplify procedures and improve patient mobility.

The meeting also emphasized the importance of direct communication channels between institutions to reduce waiting times and accelerate treatment processes.
